Project VB Raw Guidelines

Discipline Brand Guidelines Publication

Client As part of the branding of VB Raw we were asked to create some kind of brand guidelines. It was to hold all information needed to successfully maintain the core graphics and design of the brand. It also needed to hold information about the sub brand 'Fresh From' as well as have some kind of quick-reference-guide of some kind.

Solution The VB Raw brand book was designed with an editorial feel to inspire its users beyond the function of a style-guide. To do this we commissioned photographer and part owner of Monster Children gallery, itself at the heart of the target audience, Chris Searl to create imagery that reinforced the brand.

Client Gang of Four is a business which fuses brands with music. They asked for a confident, modern and bold identity system.

Solution We created an identity which used a modern type-based communication. The message is always clear, considered and straight-forward to reflect the business.

Discipline Branding Identity Logo Art-Direction

Client SoHi is a contemporary lifestyle magazine showcasing the creative, art and fashion scene in the NSW Southern Highlands. The brief was pretty much to create a magazine that could reflect the beauty of Southern Highlands as well as communicate a good and well edited read. It has not only been embraced by locals and the design has resonated globally including an interview in UK Grafik Magazine and featured on Magnation selected by Kate Bezar as her number one top five magazines.

Solution We wanted to create a magazine which you'd want to keep on your coffee table for people to pick up or even pass on to a friend (see the pass-it-on icon). As the stories are the main communication in the magazine we wanted to put focus on its content. As the photography will be as diverse as the content published in the magazine, due to the eclectic mix of individuals involved, it will have a depth and integrity and this we hope the design represents.

Discipline Branding Identity Logo

Client VB Raw wanted a special 6 pack to send out to bloggers, key influencers and random hipsters to build a conversation within the surf/fashion/music community

Solution We conceived and designed a limited edition taste sampler carton for the brand launch which uses the idea of inverted branding.

Discipline Identity Website

Client Laura Matthews was born in South Wales in 1964. She studied at the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art, London University. She was during this period under the tutelage of many great British painters, amongst them Sir Lawrence Gowing and Euan Uglow. Laura subsequently received numerous accolades, awards and travelling scholarships under this period.

Solution Laura's Work is very strong and complex which let me into keeping all elements around it very minimal and clean. The work speaks for itself and simply just needed a strong, considered and structured framework to hold it.

Discipline Art-Direction Publication Exhibition Design Interior

Client Billy Blue College of Design asked a handful of people to do the exhibition design of 2009. Quite special about this year was that we were the biggest graduating year in Billy Blue's history.

Solution Graduation and exhibition design for the expanding students at Billy Blue. The project highlights the fact that we’re growing out of existing spaces and into the industry space. This is further explained by using 'Ex-' as a reference back to the core idea. We were getting too big for the student space which is also communicated in the poster.

Discipline Identity Packaging

Client Alton Brown is a spice range for blind and visually impaired people. The range also includes olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Solution Together with liquids a special spoon is provided which makes it easier to poor and to measure them, it’s the measue of a table spoon. The text is placed on the exact same place on all the products and all the braille is embossed. The logo is communicating the exact same thing for blind as for non blinds since a is one dot and b is two.

Client RIF is a non-profit organization based in the US with the aim of supporting books to everyone.

Solution This is a new identity design for RIF. It’s communicating the simplicity of reading and buying books. I created this identity to give the organization a contemporary look but still communicate their core mission: supporting book.
